Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
Supporting the Continuous Professional Development of Healthcare Professionals
In line with our mission to support the continuous professional development of healthcare professionals, we provide Continuing Education (CE) credits for the different training events we host, both live and online.
The mission of the CE program of the Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center is to offer quality learning opportunities to members of the HIV healthcare workforce, from clinic receptionist to specialty physician, that will enable our learners to provide the very highest caliber of care and improve health outcomes for people with HIV (PWH), as measured by improvements in knowledge, skills, and attitudes as care providers and as members of the healthcare team.
Continuing Medical Education
In support of improving patient care, Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. The SE AETC designates this webinar for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity The planners involved in this activity have no financial conflicts. Continuing Nursing Education
SE AETC will provide 1.0 contact hours of continuing nursing professional development upon completion of this event. In support of improving patient care, Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. The planners involved in this activity have no financial conflicts to disclose.
Social Work
As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Southeast AETC maintains responsibility for this course. Social workers completing this course receive 1 continuing education credits.
Pharmacy
The Tennessee Pharmacists Consortium for Education is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This seminar will provide up to 1 hour of continuing education credits to pharmacists who attend the sessions and complete the online activities required to claim credit. UAN: 0575-9999-20-014-L02-P
Dental
Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider. ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry. Concerns or complaints about a CE provider may be directed to the provider or to the Commission for Continuing Education Provider Recognition at ADA.org/CERP. Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center designates this activity for 1 continuing education credits. Dietetics
The SE AETC is a board recognized provider of contact hours for RD’s and DTRs. Completion of this RD/DTR profession-specific or IPCE activity awards CPUs (One IPCE credit = One CPEU). If the activity is dietetics-related but not targeted to RDs or DTRs, CPEUs may be claimed which are commensurate with participation in contact hours (One 60 minute hour = 1 CPEU). RD’S and DTRs are to select activity type 102 in their Activity Log. Sphere and Competency selection is at the learner’s discretion.
Psychology
Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibility for the content of the programs.
Physician Assistant
Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 1 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.
Instructions
- Set your CE preference in your SE AETC profile
- Attend at least 70% of CE event to be eligible for credit
- Complete post-training evaluation within one week of the event (or the amount of time specified by the event host)
- Your CE certificate will be available for download in the Past Events tab of your SE AETC Dashboard. Please allow up to 2 weeks for your certificate to appear in your SE AETC Dashboard.
Important Notes
- Note about virtual CE events – please use your full name as your display name in the virtual platform so we can confirm your attendance. If you cannot edit your name, email or private message the event coordinator to tell them your full name.
- Pharmacists – must include NABP number and birthdate to SE AETC Profile in order to link credit with CPE Monitor. Please allow up to 3 weeks for your CPE Monitor Dashboard to be updated.
- Evaluations must be completed within two weeks of a CE event – after that time, we cannot award you credit. Starting Jan. 1, we cannot award CE for any events in the previous calendar year (i.e. events taking place between Dec. 16 – 31 must be evaluated immediately to ensure credit is granted).

- Was the event CEU accredited? Not all SE AETC events have CEU accreditation. Contact the event coordinator to confirm that CEU was offered.
